Mobius is led by Joel Jackson, an internationally-awarded entrepreneur recognised in the Forbes 30 under 30, Clinton Global Initiative, TED Global and the UN. Before Mobius, Joel worked on business strategy with an acclaimed microforestry social enterprise in rural Kenya. It was here that he first experienced the challenges facing millions of people throughout the continent without access to appropriate forms of transport. Joel also worked as a management consultant, advising top Fortune 500 companies across Europe and North America. He is the recipient of the TED Fellowship, Wired Innovation Fellowship and Echoing Green Fellowship and a graduate of Imperial College with a first class degree in Computer Science.
Chief Operating Officer
Sunru Yong is Chief Operating Officer at Mobius and brings experience in high-impact social enterprises and across multiple sectors, including agribusiness, consumer products, industrial goods, financial services, and technology. Most recently, he led strategy and finance at eleni LLC, a ground breaking company building agricultural commodity exchanges in Africa. Previously, he was a manager at Bain & Company, a leading global strategy consultancy, where he served clients in multiple industries. He also led strategic planning and international business development at TRG Group, a successful entrepreneurial venture that launched Victorinox/Swiss Army Travel Gear. He is a frequent contributor to Harvard Business Publishing, and the award-winning author of numerous case studies and core curriculum readings used around the world. Sunru was a Global Fellow at the Acumen Fund and holds degrees from Washington University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Markus Schroder Ph.D. has over 20 years experience in general management, sales & marketing and brand strategy in the automotive industry. Previously, he was PA to the Board Member of Sales and Marketing, Volkswagen Group, where he was involved in the new multi-brand strategy. He also managed Sales and Aftersales in South-East-Europe and the Middle-East. As Global Marketing Director of Skoda Auto (Prague/Czech Republic), he was responsible for the entire marketing strategy and the successful repositioning of the Skoda brand. As Launch Program & Marketing Director, Markus was responsible for Operational Sales and Marketing for a new automotive OEM in Shanghai/China. Markus has a degree in Computer Science and Business Administration and a Ph.D. from the University of Braunschweig in Germany. In addition, he completed several Executive Programs at the London Business School, Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
David is our Production Director responsible for setting up the assembly line for Mobius and overseeing all processes and procedures that guarantee world class vehicle output. He brings 30 years of experience in Production Planning, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations with Multinationals like Nissan, Tyco and Timex as well as bespoke vehicle manufacturers. Prior to Mobius, David was Head of Operations at the Caterham Cars assembly plant in the UK covering Vehicle and Chassis Production, Supply Chain, Scheduling and contributed to its return to profitability. While at Timex - Philippines, he oversaw the complete reorganization of all the Business Planning functions. He worked for Nissan from the start of the Manufacturing Operations and contributed to the development of their Production Scheduling and Ordering Systems. An ERP expert and a graduate of Reading University, he brings a wealth of relevant experience to Mobius Motors.
Associate Technical Director
John joins Mobius with over 12 years of experience in new product development internationally. Before joining Mobius, John worked at Caterpillar, located in the UK, within the Electronics R&D Division. At Caterpillar, he was most recently the NPI manager for the electronics programs for several machines built in Europe. He is a graduate of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) with an Electromechanical Systems Engineering degree. John is also a chartered engineer of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK) as well as a 6 Sigma Black Belt bringing experience in process and product improvement methodologies. John manages the local engineering team on current and new product development initiatives.
Procurement & Regulatory Manager
Edward Mwangi is the Procurement and Regulatory Manager and brings significant experience in supply chain management. Edward has worked with General Motors East Africa as head of parts operations and previously as senior buyer. He has also worked with Autosueco Kenya where he led the parts operations as well as championing supply chain improvements for the local Volvo dealer. Edward is a post graduate diploma holder and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies (UK). He has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce - Marketing Option from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Alex brings significant experience to Mobius from his work in motor industry aftersales. He has worked with General Motors East Africa as head of express service and previously in parts sales and marketing, quality assurance and customer care. Alex has also worked at Associated Motors as the Service Manager where he headed the Service Workshop operations. Alex holds a diploma and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (UK). He is a graduate of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with a diploma in Automotive Technology.
Senior Production Quality Engineer
Caroline Soi is the Senior Production Quality Engineer, responsible for overseeing Total Quality Management in production. She brings to Mobius over 10 years' experience in TQM, ISO certification and good manufacturing processes. Caroline has worked at Mabati Rollling Mills as Senior Quality Engineer, Corn Product International as a Process Engineer and at Bidco Oil Refineries as a Technical Operator. She has a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical and Process Engineering from Moi University.
